Industry and workforce development programs

Bringing together schools and industry to create a sustainable health workforce!

CheckUP’s health workforce initiatives bring together a range of programs that support the Queensland health sector to plan for, build and develop a capable and sustainable local health workforce.

We work with schools, small business, industry partners and government stakeholders to provide advice about industry directions, training solutions and employment opportunities. Our work is informed by health policy, changing models of care, workforce models and service, infrastructure, health planning, and funding programs.

Industry Skills Advisory

The Industry Skills Advisor for health and the Industry Skills Advisor for community services engage with employers, small business and industry stakeholders to provide high-quality, evidence-based industry advice and intelligence about current and emerging industry directions, regional skill needs, training solutions and employment opportunities.

CheckUP is the Industry Workforce Advisory organisation for the community services, health and First Nations health care and social assistance industries, providing tailored workforce planning assistance to small and medium employers, enabling them to address workforce challenges, diversify their workforces, and support workforce and productivity growth.

Gateway to Industry Schools Program – Health

The Health Gateway Project links schools with industry partners to introduce students to the many career pathways and job options available to them within the health industry. It helps facilitate learning opportunities and experiences for both students and teaching staff.

Youth Industry Partnerships for Education and Employment

The Youth Industry Partnerships for Education and Employment project (YIPEE) aims to foster effective school-to-work transitions for schools with a significant proportion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in Far North Queensland, through the implementation of partnerships and support provided by CheckUP’s School to Industry Transition Officer Donna Glover.

The CYO Health Career website has been designed for high school students, VET Coordinators, Career Advisors, Guidance Officers, and parents to highlight the many job opportunities which are available within the health sector that can be achieved through vocational education and training pathways.
