Gateway to Industry Schools Program – Health

The Gateway to Industry Schools Program – Health (Health Gateway Program) is a project being delivered by CheckUP in partnership with Queensland’s Department of Employment, Small Business and Training (DESBT).

The Gateway to Industry Schools Program is a key industry engagement strategy for DESBT and aligns with the department’s vision for all Queenslanders to have the skills and opportunities to participate and prosper in the economy. There are 11 industry sectors involved in the program.

The Health Gateway Program links schools with industry partners to introduce students to the many career pathways and job options available to them within the health industry. The program also helps to facilitate learning opportunities and experiences for both students and teaching staff.

Through this program CheckUP engages a wide network of schools, training providers, tertiary education institutions and health service providers to:

Provide experiential learning opportunities for students through demonstrations, workplace trials and work sampling projects with health industry employers.

Provide professional development and learning opportunities for teachers involved in health education and related programs.

Create vocational education and training (VET) opportunities for high school students with an interest in a future healthcare career.

Prepare students for and define pathways to further education and employment in health, with an aim to meet local workforce demands.

Visit the Health Gateway website for more information.

Meet our team

CheckUP uses a regionalised structure to manage the Health Gateway Program. This enables our staff to build strong relationships with local stakeholders, including schools and industry partners. These relationships are essential for effective collaboration and partnership, as well as for building trust and credibility within the community.

Please note that our Regional Coordinators split their time working on the Health Gateway Program and CheckUP’s Outreach Programs.
