Reaching Out Edition 91 – September 2026

Enjoy the latest edition of Reaching Out, CheckUP’s Health Services newsletter for outreach providers and partners across Queensland. Edition 91 opens with a message from Elise Gorman, General Manager, Health Services, celebrating achievements across our outreach network.

For providers, we’re confirming that referral details are current and accurate, so communities can reach the right services and referral pathways. You’ll also find a reminder to enter service delivery dates in the Online Management System (OMS) after each clinic visit, details on bulk uploading upcoming visit dates, and support with contracts and clinical governance. We also mark World Patient Safety Day 2026 and its theme, Safe care for life.

Read about our recent events, including the Queensland Primary Health Care Network (QPHCN) Improving Access to Healthcare event, with speakers from North West Remote Health, Queensland Health and Gidgee Healing. Watch the event or read the highlights. At the National Rural Health Conference in Adelaide, we ran an Access for All workshop on improving healthcare access for people with disability, and shared the impact of the Skin Cancer Early Detection (SCED) program. We also announced the Skills in Skin Cancer Upskilling Program, delivered by Skin Cancer College Australasia over 10 months for 30 GPs and nurse practitioners. We were proud to sponsor the OMOZ Conference on ear and hearing health for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people, and we welcome Debora Gonnella, our new Regional Coordinator for South and South West Queensland.

In community news, we celebrate the opening of Kobi Place in Toowoomba, Rosie Fitzgerald as a National Seniors Australia Community Champion Medalist for 2026, and Jaymie Lynch from QAIHC as a semi-finalist in the 7NEWS Young Achiever Awards. You’ll also find the OneNQ workforce survey for North Queensland healthcare workers and details on how to share your outreach story.
