Youth Industry Partnerships for Education and Employment

Youth Industry Partnerships for Education and Employment

The Youth Industry Partnerships for Education and Employment project (YIPEE) aims to foster effective school-to-work transitions for schools with a significant proportion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in Far North Queensland, through the implementation of partnerships and support provided by a School to Industry Transition Officer.

CheckUP initiated the YIPEE in 2022. This exciting initiative is part of the Queensland Government’s Good people. Good jobs: Queensland Workforce Strategy 2022–2032. Leading the implementation of the YIPEE project is Donna Glover, CheckUP’s School to Industry Transition Officer.

Donna collaborates with schools and the local health industry in Far North Queensland to develop partnerships to support more effective school to work transitions for five schools with a significant proportion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. As a crucial link in this process, Donna’s role focuses on creating and supporting sustainable pathways for students as they transition beyond school, whether through further education, employment, or training.

Within this capacity, Donna assists students in finding and preparing for work experience or structured work placements, acts as a liaison with employers, and provides comprehensive support to students and employers throughout the process. By bridging the gap between education and employment, Donna ensures students receive the guidance and resources needed to thrive in their chosen career paths.
